My mom has been going through things we have in storage, and some of what she found is old writing that my sibilings and I have done. One thing I wrote was a paper about my dad. I said that he's the jolliest dad, and that he's the only one to laugh at his own jokes.

I was reading old entries when I found this personality test that I scored practically all highs on, so I decided to take it again:

Disorder

Rating

Paranoid Personality Disorder:

Moderate

Schizoid Personality Disorder:

Low

Schizotypal Personality Disorder:

Moderate

Antisocial Personality Disorder:

Low

Borderline Personality Disorder:

Low

Histrionic Personality Disorder:

Low

Narcissistic Personality Disorder:

Low

Avoidant Personality Disorder:

Moderate

Dependent Personality Disorder:

Low

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder:

High

-- Take the Personality Disorder Test --
-- Personality Disorder Info --

I think it's really funny, the huge change.

For Turkey Day we went to Penslyvania because my Uncle's family is there and since his accident it has been easiest to do it there (I think?). It was a lot of fun, but the fun story is that I had to sleep in the same room as my parents. In the room, I was in one corner. In the adjacent corner was the door. Then the corner diagonal from the thing I slept on was a plant right next to the side of the bed my dad slept on. So my mom asked me the next morning (this morning) if I remembered getting up to go to the bathroom and not being able to get out of the room. And I vaugely did remember it being pitch black and bumping into things and my mother saying something. But she said that I was standing in the corner opposite the thing I slept on trying to get out through the corner and hacking at the plant as though I was trying to get through a dense jungle. And she had to help me, "Jake. Jake, stop. Jake, stop, turn around and go back to your bed." But I don't remember that part.

I just read through the first few entries I made, and they're pretty fucking embarrassing (which is NOT an invitation to go read them). I'm so glad that I'm past every aspect of that point in my life. It's odd to think how much one can change in a year.

With the exception of the five hours that Jake Waldman was at Dan Gubb's house for last night, this weekend was really bad. Actually, the whole week was, save Friday's lunch and maybe a few other moments here and there. I had plans to get my whole English book thing done and my Jewish thing done this weekend, but then I slept from 11pm till 1pm Friday night (14 fucking hours) and wasted so much time and really threw off everything. I still feel tired, too. Hopefully Striar will be elected. I did get my Jewish thing done, though. But otherwise I was unproductive. And my internet is down (I'm on my dad's computer), which sucks because I need to make my new screen name for Isaac (BigGuns.com). On the other hand, I listened to good CDs a lot, which is a plus. My brother comes up with the most random stuff and it's always good. Maybe I'll show you sometime.

And here's one for the kids:

Update on the show I wanted to plan: Not gonna happen. I mean, The Wednesday Knights are basically non-existent anymore, which would defeat the purpose of the concert because I wanted to play in it. Oh well.

I also like the fact that it's snowing in Octobre.

Luke - You could say, "Suck the duck through a straw" and "Hot dog".

So I felt like I owed it to the cast of Laramie to write a post about how impactful the play was and about how perfectly everyone played their roles, but I realised that there are no words that can do any piece of that play justice. It was beyond anything I have witnessed, and Fred Phelps is really going up against something stronger than he can handle.
I'd like to give Avery a special mention. He has been my best friend since kindergarten, but I never knew what a talented kid he is. Not to offend anyone else, I think he was the best actor tonight. Maybe it was the role he was given, but he deserves so much more praise than he gets. His speech as the doctor was the most heart-breaking thing.

And things like this make you wonder why, if you believe in God, did God create such evil. But then you see the incredible acts that followed, such as the skinhead leading "Amazing Grace" or the whole angel counter-protest (which, by the way, if you wanted to a really good job at counter-protesting tomorrow night, then copy that), and you realise that God is showing that God is with us and God is here to protect us. The eternal battle between good and evil is so awe-inspiring, and really touches us all so deeply. God creates evil, but then creates the utterly powerful acts that move us to come from it. Or, at least, that's how I feel.

Now I've seen the theatre folk do what they're good at to honour Matthew's sacrifice, and I feel so compelled to do my part. Well, time to organize the musician folk. Who wants to play a gay-pride concert? This guy right here.

It all depends on the person or small group of people. These people are more the "Christianity doesn't kill fags.....
I had an absolutely aweful week...

Up until last night. Wow. Now, I have seen a lot of concerts in my day, and Porcupine Tree was second only to The Mars Volta, and it's very close at that. And that really is saying something. I have never seen anyone shred so hard, but do it so casually. They're absolutely nuts. My only complaint is that Gavin Harrison's snare drum wasn't loud enough. But his toms were, and he did the most flabbergasting fills on them. I just can't say enough about this band. They played for us a song they wrote for the new CD, but they "don't believe in creating CDs longer than 60 minutes", so it didn't make it onto the CD, and it was the best song they played. And they only played two of the six songs I wanted to hear, but the other stuff was so good that it didn't matter.
The opening act was Robert Fripp. Yes, I know, it sounds awesome. "The guitarist from King Crimson? How could you go wrong?" Oh, you can go wrong. After he played we heard people behind us talking about him:

Guy #1: "Well, at least he was better than the last time I saw him. Last time he didn't have the slide show playing behind him."

Guy #3: "So he was just up there touching things?"

And that pretty much sums it up. He had this wierd box-like electronic thing (I'm sure it was a sampler or mixer or something) that he kept adjusting and a guitar. It was 45 minutes of crescendos done by synthesizers, violins, cellos (all from the electronic thing), and guitar. Ocassionally they would alternate between one of three different notes or add different instruments. The most interesting part was when he randomly stopped all the noises from the box and played crescendos on his guitar using a human choir as the voice. And all the while he played a slide show in the background of random pictures from throughout his life. Some pictures looked like he just edited himself in because he was wearing the same thing and didn't fit the mood. And some parts were really creepy because the music was wierd and there would be pictures of things like him sitting in and all white room that looked like a tank (of water... but without the water). I've seen really bad opening acts before, and this wasn't as BAD as Mission to Burma, but it was way more boring.
But Porcupine Tree was so fucking awesome it didn't matter.

But I guess the week wasn't all bad. I mean, there was hanging out with Vanessa, winning a drumset (although the guy might be screwing us), and having a fun Hebrew High class (I'm actually looking foward to the next one with Ave). But for the most part, it was painful.

I'd like to thank Eric for dancing during the mambo part of the first song we played today. That made the show so much better.
And I think I got to say this to everyone except for Sam, but great job today!!! That was the best we've ever played, even if we did all mess up (including Ranny, who literally never messes up). Yaaay! I had so much fun that show. I enjoyed it 100x more than I usually do. I wish I could watch it, and I can't wait to listen to the recording. And our newest song is the most kickass of asskicking! Miles wrote the best bass line ever for it, and one part is in 10/4, then switches to 14/4. Awesome.

And thanks everyone else for coming/helping out/playing! I really appreciate it, and you all helped such a great cause!

WAH WAH!

Though a lot is in the head of Jake as of now, all I really need to say is that I thouroughly hate teachers who assign pictures as homework when it is NOT an art class. Give me some options other than just a picture. I can see it in my head, I just can't put in on the paper. I guess it's the same with music, though. I always hear it in my head, but I can't sing it or anything. But that's not the point. The point is I'm going to get Ms. Linde fired because I hate her so much. No... that's not the point. The point is I can't draw a fucking picture to fit this quote: "I absorbed as much of her abuse I could understand, thinking - but not saying - that I find it ridiculous to assign a gender to an inanimate object incapable of disrobing and making an occasional fool of itself. Why refer to Lady Crack Pipe or Good Sir Dishrag when these things could never live up to all that their sex implied?" I really hate nerdy teachers who aren't math teachers. Or drum teachers, because they're nerdy in a good way. Wow, wierdest yet great drum lesson.

For those of you who don't know, my brother has been growing a mustache all summer...

Last night, while Devin, Derek, and I are watching The Brave Little Toaster (the making of) and my parents come home.
Enter Father.

Dad: "Are you growing a mustache, Derek?"
Derek: "Yeah, I have been all summer.
THIS JUST IN!

The Furvis show was beyond amazing. Their new stuff is incredible. Those of you who saw them when they played with The Wednesday Knights or at any other show know how great the stuff is, but now they're worked on it more and its brilliance has increased tenfold. They gave out free EPs at the Saturday show and have been getting a lot of calls from people telling them how amazing it sounds. I've listened to it all the way through at least 15 times since then because I can't get enough. Noah said he is going to give me 20 or so copies of the EP, so if you want a copy, tell me soon. And believe me, you want a copy. (Bandmates, you guys are guaranteed a copy because you guys need to here this stuff).

What else? Let's see... I got a mouthguard. Apparently I grind my teeth in my sleep. But that doesn't interest you...

Hmmmm.... Ah yes, I was on the news today. Channel Five came to Gold's gym to do a section on how running for 30 minutes a day lowers your colesterol. They were filming this one guy, and we got on the machines in front of him, so they told us we'd be next. They filmed me A LOT, and interviewed my dad. They showed me laughing 'cause my dad was crackin' them jokes. But that doesn't interest you...

I also spent Sunday with my family. It was fun; I really am all too fortunate to be related to them. I don't feel like going into details, but point being, my dad is hilerious.

I also can't sleep anymore. I can't figure out what is wrong. Usually it's anxiety, but I have nothing to be anxious about. Oh well. Sleep is way too much of a bitch.

Oh yeah, the Furvis show was played inside of a bocks screens and they had something playing, like a movie-ish thing, on them the whole time. Except they didn't really work too well, but it didn't matter because Furvis was the now then.

But that doesn't interest you...

They're playing FOR FREE at South's Fieldhouse and it's gonna be awesome and I don't really want to just go alone 'cause that's lame. And I told Matt Borg I'd bring lots of people.

I just wanted to state for all of your enjoyment... actually, this is more for Dan. So for Dan's enjoyment: I was thinking today about all the good times we had at camp last year (while Sam was still there, really), and I was telling my sister about all the funny things Sam did. But what context were the dolphin noises in? 'Cause those were hilerious, I just can't remember why. Also, there was "make-a spagetti", "mariano", "hey todd", but I feel like there were more things we/he said all the time. You, Sam, and I all have to go sub shop-ing soon. Hit up dem bithces. I forgot a few of the shops, though.

In other news, I had a dream about playing a really wierd concert last night. It probably reflected the really frustrating fight I had with my snare drum causing me not to practice since Saturday, because I played badly. But the point is, at the end I was watching Acre and Artemis play, and all of a sudden Rannie was singing and doing something funny that all I remember was that we kept refering to it as some "play (as in theatre) thing". And the first thing I thought in the morning was, "we need to start calling 'Rannie' 'Randma', 'cause Rannie is like Grannie, and 'Randma' is like 'Grandma'. Except I thought about it a lot longer until realising it was a really dumb thing to be thinking so hard about, becuase "Randma" sounds bad, anyway.

The real purpose of this entry is to not have my live journal deleted. So save yourself some time and don't read the following.
